As a member of the Philosophy Student Association at the University of Zurich, I was responsible for visual communication. My work included designing flyers and posters for events, as well as creating a new logo for the association during my final term.
The logo design was guided by a simple but meaningful idea. It features a turtle, an image that links back to Greece, where much of Western philosophy began. The land tortoise, in particular, carries symbolic weight: it represents the long history of philosophical thought and the ancient Greek tradition that underpins it.
At the same time, the turtle stands for endurance and steadiness. In the logo, it carries the University of Zurich on its back, reflecting the way philosophy supports and sustains the humanities as one of the university’s founding disciplines. The association itself embodies that same spirit, acting as a voice for students and preserving philosophy’s quiet but essential presence within the academic community.
